Normally I would leave these matches alone, but the match just went to the half and Liverpool's youths are up 6-0 at the break.
Raheem Sterling got a hat-trick just after the half-hour mark, and Conor Coady, Stephen Sama, and Adam Morgan have all added set-piece goals (Coady on a penalty, Sama a header off a corner, and Morgan on a header off a free kick just outside the box).
Sterling has been absolutely brilliant to watch. His effort is outstanding, and you can tell he's far more talented and athletic than any Southend defender that's tried to match him. Morgan has been brilliant with his effort up top, occupying defenders and creating space, and to see him get a goal after all the work he put in was great.
Kristjan Adorjan, Jack Robinson, and Suso have also all been notable as well. Adorjan has sent in great set-piece service and has also been great finding his team-mates with space on the attack. Robinson has been dogged on the defense, but he's also been great on the attack from his left-back spot, going on several great runs with the ball and aggressively attacking the box. Suso hasn't had many chances to attack himself from the right wing, but has put in several great crosses and passes.
Southend has fought hard all match, but after Sterling completed his hat-trick, they started to look a little deflated. After Sama and Morgan added their goals, they looked utterly beaten going in to the break. Should be interesting to see how the second half winds up.
