Painfully early on the west coast, but damn well worth it.

Maxi with a belter that De Gea just turns around the post

Hopefully De Gea man’s up a little for us
Rafael & Valencia are causing you a few problems down the left.
I always fear Gerrard in games like these though….. Could be nailbiting…. could be a msitake that decides the game
Enrique is really struggling to contain them, and Maxi is giving him no help
Enrique looks like he’s gassed from the City match on Wednesday. If anything is going to undo Liverpool today, I think it’s that.
Wouldn’t shock me at all if this goes to penalties at this point. Unfortunately, I think Manchester might have an advantage if it does, as much as I hate to admit it.

Disagree
he was extremely active the first 30 minutes or more, but we were playing that hoof it forward with no link up from him to the midfield, expecting him to handle the attack on his lonesome. He wasn’t great, but I thought he had a solid game.
http://sportsandgrits.com/
Active yes
But he did nothing with it and still looked lazy up there. Again, he was on his own, but he doesn’t use his physical strengths to his advantage. He can run around all he wants, but he didn’t hold up play, he didn’t harass United’s back 4, he did do anything. For me he was just running around looking busy and making poor flicks and touches.
"The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they don't know the game" -Bill Shankly
Agreed.
I’ve been a huge Carroll supporter, but he was fuckawful until about the 75th minute. Wasteful touches, dawdled on the ball almost every time he had it, and couldn’t generate a single damn useful thing.
It’s like the argument I’ve been having with USMNT fans about Jermaine Jones this past week: active does not equal good. just because you run around like a chicken with your head cut off doesn’t mean you’re being useful to the team, and Carroll certainly was not for most of this match.

But was that him?
or the lack of support play around him? He’s not the quick, creative attacker to break defenders down ala Suarez, so if that’s what you’re wanting, you’ll never get it. He’d fight for balls, bring them down, and be standing there alone between two defenders with no one to work with. It’s not easy to play up front on an island like he was.
http://sportsandgrits.com/
I agree it is the system somewhat
But too often he was simply just beaten to headers. If he won one, he would flick it on to no one. He had to know there was no one more advanced that him when he is tight on the last defender. I know what we are getting out of him, but it doesn’t mean he has played well because he has done what I expect him to do (and I’m sure you all know how low my expectations of him are).
"The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they don't know the game" -Bill Shankly
Might not have been 100% him, but an awful lot of it was
His “activity” played him out of position a lot, and when he did get the ball, he f*cked around with it for several seconds before doing anything, and would usually play off a clumsy pass backwards instead of doing anything incisive with it. I counted eight touches in the first hour where he passed back instead of taking a clear opportunity to turn and run or send a through ball to an advancing team-mate. That’s unacceptable to me.

The FA
There are rumors that Patrice Evra and Whisky Nose were seen leaving the ref’s dressing room logging their complaint that the flying dutchman actually had the nerve to put the winner past he and DeGea! Expect some sort of action against Dirk via the Ferguson Assoc.

DeGea ocular fund
I am creating a fund to pay DeGea NOT to have any ocular procedures. I see his as being more valuable as any transfer business that LFC can do in the near future!

I'm saving my money for Carroll's
He misjudged so many balls.

Not a chance
But I suppose he has a full year to change my mind. Although he has already had plenty of time to impress me to get a card.

Liverpool Tickets
Liverpool FC had turned over Chelsea and Juventus to reach the Champions League finals in Istanbul, then they went three goals down in the first half of the game. Was it possible they could claw it back.Liverpool Tickets
