Carra looks to be playing a holding mid early

Looks like a 4-3-3 in the early minutes.

Maxi with a belter that De Gea just turns around the post

Enrique is really struggling to contain them, and Maxi is giving him no help

Enrique looks like he’s gassed from the City match on Wednesday. If anything is going to undo Liverpool today, I think it’s that.

Wouldn’t shock me at all if this goes to penalties at this point. Unfortunately, I think Manchester might have an advantage if it does, as much as I hate to admit it.

Fair play to you guys (As in your team)

I feel if Lindegaard had played we would have won…..

Still don’t know how I was trolling….

See you at OT in the league

by Sweet science on Jan 28, 2012 2:38 PM GMT reply actions

For what it's worth

I do t think you were trolling. I think everyone is caught up in the anxiety of this game at the time. Although it might be because you and I have always had good banter over at TBB.

Again… I will say, see you at OT… You will have Suarez back

Hopefully we will have…. Nani, Rio, Rooney, Cleverley, Young :)

And Lindegaard (Praise the lord)

YNWA my friends

That was absolutely fantastic. These last two matches could be a massive turning point in this season.

My thoughts exactly. Taking both Manchester clubs out of cups inside of a week? Huge.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

It doesn’t get better than beating those dirty Mancs, no matter the competition! What a great way to start my Saturday! Hell yea!

It gets better for me.

I’ll be at All About Beer magazine’s World Beer Festival in 2 hours. $40 ticket = all you can drink in good beer (not Bud Light, Miller Light, etc.). :)

And we were singing hymns and arias... Much louder than Cardiff because we're in the Premier League!

I think they have these things in Virginia and North Carolina as well.

I think it's $50 at the door.

But if you’re driving an hour, what’s another $10? haha

Men of the match – Carroll (lively, and the winning assist), Kelly (gave everyone fits on the right), Skrtel (did Welbeck do anything of note at all?)

Definitely worth the early wake-up. What a week it’s been.

Carroll and co. really worked the corner flag for the added time too. Really closed the game out.

Bye Travis and thanks for 2010! Good luck with the Brewers!

Carroll was absolute shit for the first 80'

No way I could give it to him. I’m glad he pulled his head out of his ass and he did have a great final 10’. But that can’t undo the first 80’ for me.

Disagree

he was extremely active the first 30 minutes or more, but we were playing that hoof it forward with no link up from him to the midfield, expecting him to handle the attack on his lonesome. He wasn’t great, but I thought he had a solid game.

http://sportsandgrits.com/

by Mr. Sanchez on Jan 28, 2012 5:26 PM GMT up reply actions

Active yes

But he did nothing with it and still looked lazy up there. Again, he was on his own, but he doesn’t use his physical strengths to his advantage. He can run around all he wants, but he didn’t hold up play, he didn’t harass United’s back 4, he did do anything. For me he was just running around looking busy and making poor flicks and touches.

by Bromantic on Jan 28, 2012 5:38 PM GMT up reply actions

Agreed.

I’ve been a huge Carroll supporter, but he was fuckawful until about the 75th minute. Wasteful touches, dawdled on the ball almost every time he had it, and couldn’t generate a single damn useful thing.

It’s like the argument I’ve been having with USMNT fans about Jermaine Jones this past week: active does not equal good. just because you run around like a chicken with your head cut off doesn’t mean you’re being useful to the team, and Carroll certainly was not for most of this match.

But was that him?

or the lack of support play around him? He’s not the quick, creative attacker to break defenders down ala Suarez, so if that’s what you’re wanting, you’ll never get it. He’d fight for balls, bring them down, and be standing there alone between two defenders with no one to work with. It’s not easy to play up front on an island like he was.

http://sportsandgrits.com/

by Mr. Sanchez on Jan 28, 2012 6:03 PM GMT up reply actions

I agree it is the system somewhat

But too often he was simply just beaten to headers. If he won one, he would flick it on to no one. He had to know there was no one more advanced that him when he is tight on the last defender. I know what we are getting out of him, but it doesn’t mean he has played well because he has done what I expect him to do (and I’m sure you all know how low my expectations of him are).

Might not have been 100% him, but an awful lot of it was

His “activity” played him out of position a lot, and when he did get the ball, he f*cked around with it for several seconds before doing anything, and would usually play off a clumsy pass backwards instead of doing anything incisive with it. I counted eight touches in the first hour where he passed back instead of taking a clear opportunity to turn and run or send a through ball to an advancing team-mate. That’s unacceptable to me.

I am thinking the best thing that could have happen was that terrible league game

It allowed Kenny to blow up and get in peoples shit and he really seemed to light a fire these last two game.

Now if they can just guard against the let down when we see Wolves they need to keep this momentum rolling into the league games :)

Would anyone be the slightest bit shocked if we drew Everton in the next round?

This year’s draws seem decidedly biased towards notable matchups like that. If it’s not them, it’s Chelsea.

The big clubs that we seem to handle

The way we’re going, it’s the Leiscester City’s, Millwall’s, and Stevenage Borough’s we have to worry about!!

Great week for Liverpool. Somewhere an FA Official makes note to heat balls marked Liverpool & Everton ahead of the 5th Round “random” draw

The FA

There are rumors that Patrice Evra and Whisky Nose were seen leaving the ref’s dressing room logging their complaint that the flying dutchman actually had the nerve to put the winner past he and DeGea! Expect some sort of action against Dirk via the Ferguson Assoc.

I am creating a fund to pay DeGea NOT to have any ocular procedures. I see his as being more valuable as any transfer business that LFC can do in the near future!

Liverpool Tickets

Liverpool FC had turned over Chelsea and Juventus to reach the Champions League finals in Istanbul, then they went three goals down in the first half of the game. Was it possible they could claw it back.Liverpool Tickets
