Suarez ought to be capable of it, but that's it

Still, even if Bellers was on the pitch, they’d need to figure out how to keep the ball better than they have so far. His speed would help, but only until Liverpool could make Manchester pay for their pressing tactics, and so far they’ve shown no ability to.

Downing has been really, really bad so far.

Giving Enrique no support in defense, and providing no quality in attack. If this keeps up, it’s going to be a long match.

And Johnson’s been quite good as well. But given the fits that Valencia is giving Enrique, a poor Downing is a very bad thing.

Very poor first half for Liverpool

Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, and Spearing have played well for the most part. Downing has been brutal. Hendo and Enrique haven’t been good. Gerrard has had to play super deep because of all the pressure Manchester is putting on. Suarez looks a step slow and is playing with too much emotion, and it’s costing him.

There was trouble in the tunnel at half-time too, according to Sky Sports. Patrice Evra tried to speak to Luis Suarez but Martin Skrtel got involved and the incident escalated. There was a scrum involving several players, stewards and the police and it took both teams about five minutes to get into the dressing rooms.

Put class in his face, and make his behavior look all the worse. Now they both just look like dicks in the general public’s eye.

Love Pepe

Did anyone see him storm after Evra after he was taunting Luis?

Evra is a c*unt. Was he late celebrating Rooneys goals?

Why is Macca analyzing the snub? I have to be honest I am not sure I would have shaken Evra’s hand.

by NC Nole on Feb 11, 2012 2:46 PM GMT via mobile reply actions

Looked like Skrtel was right with Reina, too.

And I think Macca’s producers told him to finally talk about it. He’d been trying to get Darke to shut up about it virtually the entire match.

Yeah I saw Pepe do that.

I was damn proud of him. That’s exactly what should have happened too. Someone needed to do something and it needed to be someone other than Suarez. Bravo Pepe.

There is a lack of critical thinking amongst those who analyze this beautiful sport. Suarez was labeled a racist and so henceforth Evra will always be the victim. No room for analysis, independent thought, or critical reasoning.

by jakesinger777 on Feb 11, 2012 2:47 PM GMT up reply actions

And so, any reaction by Suarez will always be perceived as the condoning of racism, when in reality it’s defiance of injustice.

I won't be surprised one bit

If most media talks about the handshake and little to nothing is said about Evra’s sickening post game display. And I’m sure the shit that happened at the half will be put on Suarez too.

It definitely appeared as thought Darke presumed that Evra approached Suarez as the peacemaker, simply trying to engage in enlightened discourse. We don’t know what really happened, but given Evra’s display after the match, it would be surprising if his approach was anything but hostile.

by jakesinger777 on Feb 11, 2012 2:52 PM GMT up reply actions

My thoughts exactly.

Even if he made it look as though he was trying to be the peacemaker, I have no doubt it was done in an attempt to get a rise out of Suarez.

on ESPN as well

all commentary was about how evra “simply wanted to speak with Suarez” at the half portrayed as innocent sportsmanship.

the fact that others had to get involved shortly after just makes me think that it was prolly a little more ill intentioned.

fk outta here.

I just don’t get how everyone expects this all to be water under the bridge. Is this an English thing or something?

This wasn’t something that happened last season. Suarez just got back last week. And he’s supposed to say all’s well now?

Geez, give him some time to get over it.

shitty match

No pressure on the ball.

No fire from any of the players uninspired nothing from anyone.

Sad commentary that Charlie was the only one hustling and pressuring the manc players.

Only two good chances glens miss and luis’s goal. Sad. Please don’t sugar coat this one kenny our side is shit.

How long before Macca refuses to announce Liverpool games?

Every time he sounds more and more disgusted with them. At this rate it’s only a matter of time before he storms out of the booth in the middle of a broadcast.

I thought he was about to a couple times in the second half.

He just seemed incredibly frustrated with how poorly they were playing. I don’t blame him. I threw up my hands in disgust more than a few times in that half.

You guys will think I am kidding

But I am over Downing move bellers to the left put dirk on the bench give Raheem a run on the right wing. Fuck even try Joao.

Not having Lucas sucks if he is in the match Rooney does not score his second.

Also stevie had to play the dmf in the last 30 which didn’t help

by NC Nole on Feb 11, 2012 3:03 PM GMT via mobile reply actions

I have no problem with Downing take up bench on a more regular basis.

I’m also over Kuyt. I want to want him on the field but I just don’t anymore. His work ethic simply doesn’t make up for his poor touch and passing. I find myself swearing at him way more than cheering for him these days.

Downing

Was excellent the first month or so of the season now he looks like shit. He has moments but for 20M he needs to be more consistent.

Rumors of 10M for Kuyt during the summer from fenerbache, if that is true I say cash out on him and either pay for a good right wing or give raheem a run.

His tactics are suspect sometimes. I never expected his appointment to be permanent I figured if he got us to europe then fsg would start shopping around for a top notch manager. I have to say I would welcome murhino.

The way it’s going now, I expect Kenny to step down at the end of this season.

The only thing I blame Kenny for are the shit players he has signed. If he’d actually bought quality players instead of Downing and Carroll and a few others, who knows where we would be. Maybe we’d actually challenging for a top 4 spot. This team is a bunch of half rate depth players. I’d say, Kenny has actually over achieved with how little talent he’s got. Because they were stupid and didn’t buy anyone in January, I have written this year off. Win the FA and Carling Cups and go bring in a number of quality players this summer. If they are not top 4 next season, Kenny has to go.

The first person who has got to go is Damien Comolli. Dude is simply atrocious at his job. The sooner he’s gone the better.

He's certainly earned the right to go out on his own terms

This year, at least. I’m thinking he might not want to put up with all this Suarez shit another year. I certainly couldn’t blame him. Despite his public support of Suarez, after today I wouldn’t be surprised if Kenny tells ownership, “It’s him or it’s me,” this off-season.

kenny

Has had some weird tactical decisions. Even he cannot be absolved. Why play luis up front alone? Why play downing and not bellers even on 5 days rest?

Dumb decisions by kenny not just once but repeadely. I am afraid a cup win will mask the true cracks

by NC Nole on Feb 11, 2012 10:52 PM GMT via mobile up reply actions

I too am getting to that point.

I haven’t completely given up on him yet, but it’s so frustrating when he trots out a lineup like today and then refuses to sub or make any adjustments whatsoever until it’s too late.

Hopefully you all saw that ManUre fans were trying to bring this into OT to hold up:

Police were confiscating them as well as offensive t-shirts outside the stadium. Classless to say the least.

Apparently, according to Sky, Evra tried to follow Luis into the LFC locker room at HT. What a friggen douchebag. Gosh, I hate United and everything to do with them. I think Man City just became my second favorite team. I will be actively cheering for them to win the league so that ManUre’s season is a complete failure. I’d love to see Evra running around, celebrating then.

So apparently people are circulating proof that Suarez put his hand out to Evra and Evra pulled it back...

… before the whole weird arm-grabbing thing. If true, that just makes Evra look even more like a douchebag than he was managing before.

That said, I just wish this whole mess would go away. I’m tired of it. I just want to go back to football and leave the circus elsewhere.

Yep. From Scouse Brethern...

This is Anfield.

Evra offers his hand to Jordan Henderson, who is right in front of Suarez in the handshake line.

As soon as Suarez approaches…

And I’ll say this. I’m not the biggest fan of Suarez’ histrionics on the pitch. And he really didn’t need to fire the ball like he did at the end of the first half.

But this is pretty clear evidence that destroys the media’s narrative that Suarez pulled his hand back.

And it makes Evra out to be an even bigger douchebag than he already was prior to today.

Also, fuck whiskey nose!
